All modern cameras have a wide iso range, my advise is to up the iso as high as you can without adding too much noise, on my Canon 30D from iso 100 to iso 600 its very hard to tell much quality difference. But look at how fast the shutter now acts :-)
Try it and see how far you go, you will be surprised, all the stuff in magazines can be mis-leading at times
