Horsehead Nebula

Here's my recent image of the Horsehead nebula near the lefthand star in Orion's Belt [zeta Orionis top centre]. The Horsehead is a dark gas cloud [official name Barnard 33 - B33] seen is silhouette against a slightly brighter gaseous nebula.

The HH is inordinately faint and difficult to see visually even with the largest telescopes - even living in a Arizona desert with huge 20"+ aperture scope doesn't guarentee a view. I've never seen it and nowerdays don't bother to try due to severe light pollution

But my trusty little 'scope [70mm f/3.5 lens] + cam does the business ok even from London. Hope it's of interest
