It is growing in a chestnut coppice, quite close to a row of gardens and so probably an escapee. There are about five of these but localised within an acre.
South East woodland, acid, sandy soil and shaded position.

I would like to know what it is so that I know how to treat it. Probably a valuable source of early nectar.
