ok thanks for the reply Jeff. yes I was checking for blockages etc but as you say that could cause it to slow down a bit but doesn't make any sense why the power failed.
I would prefer to keep the water clear so that you can see what's in it more clearly, but was wondering if it may be better for wildlife unfiltered.
