Hi Ian,

Not sure I can help much, I spend most weekends somewhere around London, trying to photograph birds and other critters, I'm still fairly new to it all. I don't have a hide but wear a camo jacket and green trousers and find that staying still in deep enough undergrowth is often adequate depending on the animal. Other than that, I try to move quietly and think about lines of sight.

I'd second Richmond Park for photography opportunities. As well as the birds, it's got an amazing variety of insect life in the warmer months and the deer rut in autumn is not to be missed! A walk alongside the Thames can also be surprisingly productive.
