Storage media

So, I'm off to the other side of the world ( australia ) for a few weeks and I'm taking as much of my camera gear as the airline company will allow.

Whilst I'm there, I'm sure that I will run out of capacity on my card in the camera. So, what is the best option?? I can probably get acces to a computer over there

1. Buy some more cards - perhaps an expensive way to go.
2. Download card to computer - copy to DVD or to stick. This option means I need to take the lead from camera to computer and buy DVD or stick.
3. Buy portable external hard drive - this needs to be able to accept the card from my Nikon camera, rather that go via computer.
4. Buy external hard drive and link via computer.

I was always intending to buy some sort of external hard drive for storage of my picture as my computer hard drive is getting a bit clogged up - so option 3 or 4 above may serve both needs.

Any views on the above would be very helpful and if recommendations are either 3 or 4 above, then which particular make/model and rough cost would be very much appreciated.

Regards,

Bob P.
