Have just come back from a "day out" with the conservation group i belong to with the Kent Wildlife Trust , We went to the "New and Improved" Bedgebury park home of the National Pinetum and the new "lottery funded" Visitor centre, new lake and picnic area....It was a beautiful place....Massive trees...Infact the "Old man of kent" which is the tallest tree in kent ....and some huge giant redwoods.
Saw my first Nuthatch and Coal tit ( 2 more for the "life list" ) and more goldcrests in one day than i have seen my entire birding life !
One day is not enough we only saw a blip of the entire place which has masses of new family cycle routes,(bike hire on site) Singletrack mountain bike trails and extreme "Free ride" hardcore mountain biking, ...A lovely Kids play area, picnic area, cafe, horse tracks, and many lakes and ponds and of course the national collection of pine and connifers plus many other trees and woodland.
Well worth a day out if your in the area of kent, goudhurst/hawkhurst/marden/maidstone/Tunbridge wells
