Concerning the more general issue of all alien species, plant and animal, I don't think we have learned anything, partly because each new generation in its youthful enthusiasm and misplaced confidence just goes blinding ahead by repeating the mistakes of its forefathers. I must again cite Harris hawks and African snails, re my earlier posting. Everyone is apparently satisfied with closing the stable door after the horse had bolted.
