Thanks for the warm welcome
There are parks nearby (the closest one is only 3mins walk and has a shallow river which has ducks, moorhens and even the odd kingfisher). My street had no trees at all until about 18 months ago when they planted some young Rowans and I did notice a small flock of starlings attacking the berries with gusto a few weeks ago, first time I've seen starlings in the area in the 3 years I've been there, so it proves the point that if the right food is around, they will find it!
I'm going to keep changing the bird food every few days and I've placed the feeders as close as possible to a young lilac tree I have and a fence panel covered in climbers. I also have a young apple tree and am planning to make some suet cake tonight to put in that (in a coconut shell).
Looking forward to trawling the forum for tips.
