Hi Durrell. Have look at these books, they should be right up your street for your trip. Sounds great fun.
1. Meetings with Remarkable Trees (by Thomas Pakenham)
2. The Heritage Trees of Britain and Northern Ireland (by Jon Stokes and Donald Rodger)
Not mentioned in the books is Ripley Castle, not far from Harrogate. There are some superb 'heritage trees' is the parkland there. Well worth a look.
