Re: Flower of the day

As requested by KeenTeen, a couple of additions to the Flower of the Day thread to keep our record of the winter complete:

Ipheion, Ipheion uniflorum - well naturalised under a tree on Queen Charlton village green, Somerset, 7th January 2009. I've never seen this plant before, even in a garden, and wouldn't ever have got the identification without posting it on here

(Common) Snowdrop, Galanthus nivalis - Compton Dando churchyard, Somerset, 7th January 2009. There were quite a few of these in flower, although they'd suffered from the frost - when I first heard about them I'd hoped they might be one of the rarer alien species, but no such luck

Primrose (Primula vulgaris) & Ivy-leaved Toadflax(Cymbalaria muralis) in flower in the same area; the Ivy-leaved Toadflax seems to be going right through the winter as I've now seen it in a couple of places, but I was very surprised to find Primrose out already.
