I remember the blackouts of the early 70's but my dad being clever rigged up electric lights using old headlamps and car batteries.
The winter of 78/79 was very extended with the centre of Edinburgh getting over 7" of snow on March 21st followed by several days of heavy overnight frosts.
I hope it dosent happen this year as the spring cant come fast enough for me this year.
