Countryside Management Course

Foundation Degree in Countryside Management

Following consultation across the county, This degree has been designed to meet the employment needs of the industry; Balancing sound underpinning knowledge with real "hands on " practical skills. Students can expect to spend at least one day a week outside, either in the field or on the college estate.

Are you already working or vulunteering in the sector but have no formal related qualifications?

Are you looking to enter the industry either as a career change or as a school leaver?

Are you looking for a flexible study mode?

FULL TIME MODE : 2 years, (2 days +1 evening a week)

PART TIME MODE : 3 - 4 years

Year 1: Principles of ecology, countryside management practices, Conservation and community, plant science & taxonomy, Business management, industry placement1.

Year 2: Field biologyand habitat classification, Practical habitat management, practical ecology and surveying, rural land use, sustainable landscape management, Industry placement 2 .

Issues of access, interpretation, green tourism, legislation and policy are embedded throughout the coursees and explored in the relevant context

Year 3, BSc ( hons) Landscape Management ( countryside) awaiting validation
