That sounds like my idea of a perfect winter's day, Sheila.
I think my flower border is similar to yours. I planted the back of it up with a mix of hedging plants, in front of that are various flowering shrubs and in front and between them are perennials and wildflowers. All this lot grow into and through each other and although it is early days it is already starting to look good.
