£5.5k is just too rich for me too. If the price of the D3x behaves anything like the price of the D700 did, it should cost about £4k by Easter. Not that that would make any difference to me... Just think how much kit you could buy for that!
I'd like to know what lens that is on the front of it though. It looks like it might be a new prime (as you might be able to tell, I am eagerly awaiting new primes...).
