I was in work on Tues afternoon you should have given me a shout!
The Bickershaw golf course, parkland, marina at the swing bridge and housing scheme seems to have gone quiet for the min. We are not sure what will actually happen if it does go ahead - our municipal course is supposed to close and it would be nice to use that land for wildlife but we have no idea what will actually happen as the new Leigh Sports Village is on the opposite side of the by-pass............
Sacriligious to golfers as this might sound - I could imagine hides and more scrapes and ponds where the golf course is now - but somehow I doubt a prime peice of land like this would be used this way? On the other hand I couldn't see anyone building on it the way it has flooded historically and if memory serves me designated flood plain is very close to it. Projections were for the new course too be finished and in use by 2010 but I can't see it with the world economy crumbling and firms like Woolworths going to the wall..............
