These compact fluorescent lamps do take a couple of minutes to reach full brightness from switch on.

They are best suited to locations where, once switched on, they will be left on for at least half an hour or so. (The longevity of some of the less well engineered makes of these lamps will seriously be impaired by constant switching).

They do work out more cost effective, and are undoubtedly more energy efficient than tungsten filament lamps, but despite all the blurb, I've found that it's only those of 16watt and above that are bright enough for the smallest of rooms.

At the offer price though, and seeing as the offer includes 20-watt units, you can't go wrong. I'd be tempted to snap some up asap.
