It is really scary how farm animals are treated at the slaughter houses. I feel so sorry for them, especially how they know whats coming! We have tried cutting down on the amount of meat we consume as a family. I use half the amount and tend to bulk up with extra vegetables.. Have you thought about keeping some ex- battery hens? You can get of these through the Battery Hen Welfare Trust. Also i know a company that sell plans and coops in kit form for those wishing to build their own coop cheaply
