Yes, I agree - Red Oak (Quercus rubra). As well as being a popular street tree it's also widely planted in forestry (presumably to hide ugly conifers) and frequently naturalised - central Wales & the Brecons seems to be an exceptionally good area for finding naturalised specimens, but the map on BSBI's website suggests they're widespread. |
