I hesitate to mention this, but it couldn't have been a couple of scuttling cats, could it? When very excited, cats do make a clicking, chattering noise. They can run in a crouch and they often have big bushy tails, quite huge if sufficiently aroused. They zip up fences just fine and I can't believe any badger could so easily, even if one did once get up a tree. Badgers just don't have the right feet. I don't think Leicestershire has anything more exciting. Except maybe feral Ferrets. Size can be very deceptive by night. Do Ferrets click? I know nothing about Ferret language. Ferrets might otherwise fit the general description. |
