Thanks very much Dogghound. I feel sure you're right.
I see from a Google search that it has only colonized the UK in recent years & I wondered if anyone knows how far north it has reached. (I'm in north Cumbria ).
I also see that it is said to favour sycamore but this was found in an area of felled conifer plantation.
