For those of you who don't know Wells High St. it has troughs running down either side of the road, carrying water from the springs/wells to the good people of Wells. This gift of free fresh water was granted by Bishop Thomas Beckynton, in the 1450s.
The springs have been a Sacred Site for at least 4000yrs.
Well, just a few minutes ago I was walking down the High St. & witnessed a lady, who turned out to be a Yank tourist, trip & fall into the trough.I felt for her but could see the humour
Her husband helped her up, she was soaked all down one side. As they passed me I said, with a smile "Well m'deer, you've been blessed with Sacred Water." She laughed & asked about it, so I told how it was. Her husband invited me to have coffee tomorrow, in the B.P.
