Hi everyone
Been scouring the internet and my books for an ID on a strange little flower found this morning in the garden.
I do have a photo of it of sorts but as yet haven't been able to upload it so i'll describe it to see if anyone has any ideas.
It was down in between the daisies and at first I thought it was one. Its as small as a daisy but with 5 white petals and a yellow centre. It had no leaves at the base and grew as if a mushroom with a weak white thin stem. A bit like a beansprout. On the outside of the white petals it was covered in a black sticky fluid like tar that came off easily and was very wet.
My daughter picked it and we tried to photograph it and it was very quick to shrivel up.
Is anyone familiar with this? It looks like a flower but is more like a fungi.
