| Re: Goldfinch Hi,
I have just joined and would like to add my experience of this subject.
About a yer ago I noticed 1 greenfinch feeding off an old peanut seed feeder, so I decided to try some sunflower seed hearts. This was very popular with the greenfinches and also the odd goldfinch. I bought a new sunflower seed feeder and a nyjer feeder (as I read goldfinches love nyjer seed). Wow the sunflower seed feeder entice large numbers of both birds. I have had 12 greenfinches and 12 goldfinches at the same time vying for places at the feeder. The nyjer feeder ........ is not very popular with the goldfinches as they are using the sunflower feeder.
During this spring chaffinches have been "ground" visitors eating the seeds the others drop on the lawn.
I also have a pair of Siskins feeding and I am very pleased about this. They seem to stay on the feeder longer than the other finches and are not so easily freightened either.
