Natural England give out licenses, you need to gain experience with the species which varies from each species.
To obtain a Great Crested Newt license you need to have worked with them, for no set period of time, but you need two referees who have worked with you on great crested newt surveys to say you are able to do the surveys & methods correctly etc.
I actually have experience doing great crested newt surveys, I am in the process of filling out the form for a license but was told by Natural England because I am currently a graduate seeking employment and do not have any surveys currently planned, then i cannot obtain a license. Wonderful.
So it shouldnt really be difficult a great crested newt license, but is proving to be so. |
