| Too much frog interbreeding? We live in an old house that has an enclosed high stone walled garden to the rear. We have a wild life pond and a fish pond, lots of newts and hundreds of frogs. We have lived in the house for 20 years and I guess the frog familes go back much further then that as they can't get out of the garden. I have noticed that for the last 5 or 6 years we have had much less frogsporn and much of it does not fully develop. Many of the frogs now have narrow thin backs, there is loads of food in the garden so I wondered if its a case of many years in breeding. I don't use any pesticides. Does any one know if this can happen and should I try to introduce some new frogs from elswhere? |
