Yes, goitre here is called "Derbyshire Neck"
The waters that people use to come to Buxton for is the natural spring water - which one can buy bottled at exorbitant prices, but obtain free from St Annes Well - which is a far cry from the stuff we get out of the taps.
I grew up in Sussex, where our water came straight off the chalk downs, it was delicious. The high calcium content probably explains my good teeth! But it use to furr the kettle something terrible.
