To day I went for a walk around the local garden centre. I was looking to replace some lavender that have died as I planted them too early.
Anyway they sell chickens and ducks. In one cage there were about 7 mixed birds. Two ducks were eating the rear end of one of the chickens that was alive and cowering in a corner.
I felt sick so went to get the assistant. I went back to the cage I distracted the ducks and the poor chicken seemed to know I was trying to help it as it came towards me.
When the ducks approached I tapped the cage to distract them again they would not come near but the poorly chicken waited by the gate for the assistant to remove it..He said he would put it in a separate cage. I told him it needs a vet.
Haven't these garden centres have a duty to look at the animals on a regular basis, as I have no idea how long this was going on..
