There are so many of these old sayings. Looking out of a rainy window, I am reminded of a local saying about rain coming in with the tide. And people would point out that it would stop raining at high tide, 5 or 6 hours from when it started. Somehow I think it is more to do with the fact that on average rain lasts for around 5 or 6 hours anyway, as a front crosses the country. |
