Happened to me last year on Amazon, bought some gift vouchers to send to France, deleted my card info as I always did afterwards, and within a week someone had ordered £700 of goods from Amazon.de. Amazon UK - nothing to do with them of course. I am with Nat West and they got all the details and gave me the money back straight way. Has made me very wary now though, won't be using Amazon again.
