Hi Rich,
it seems quite a few people are having this issue - me included so it may be a problem with internet explorer (even though it worked perfectly fine for me up until recently).
I suggest you install firefox (it doesn't have to be your default browser - you can set it so it isn't). I have both internet explorer 7 and firefox installed on my computer and internet explorer is my default - I use firefox when IE7 isn't working
but am considering using it more often as it's faster and hasn't crashed once for me!

If you download firefox, try uploading you pictures to the gallery and see what happens!
