We had a whole nest that collared doves had built in our robinia last year, which is a very flimsy tree, fall out, with chicks inside. We lifted the nest and chicks into a little old bucket, tied a string to the handle and hoisted it back into the tree. The parents watched us do this and when we had gone, came back. A few days later, both chicks fledged. Sadly one was got by a cat but the other did fine. Don't worry too much, instinct will probably bring the parent back. ww
