Hi Chrissie and welcome to WAB.
A difficult one to answer.
Collared Doves are quite shy and easily startled so i guess this is what happened.
They normally fledge after about 15 to 19 days so your baby was pretty close to it anyway.
Most adult birds normally have ways of finding there young so i am guessing all will be well..........hopefully.
Lets hope the instinct to look after there young kicks in.
