I read about it on the BBC website earlier in the month, and informed friends and people at work of the forthcoming date and what was required. It appears that most either forgot, or just plain ignored the request.
I always shut down, or turn off standby switches on equipment that is not in use, so my contribution was negligible come the day. I agree that it should have been pushed more by the media.
