My birds of the day were a group of Mallards (hybrids with blue bills) that swam around a pond in a row. No matter what happended they kept paddling about in a single line. Even if they were interrupted by swans, geese or other ducks they reformed and continued on their journey.
I could see the point if the first duck in the line was a female but as far as I could they where all males. To me it looked like a pointless exercise but maybe there was some purpose behind it for them.
