Another favourite is Muncaster Castle also in Cumbria. I dont suppose it's actually a garden in the garden sense. It has a wonderful Rhododendrons, I've never seen the like of in it's woodland walk and an added bonus spectacular views of the Lake District. If you are into trees (and owls, the British or is it world owl centre is there) this is the place for you. | I'm not sure if this is my munber one, but I am a big fan of Sizergh too. You have the added bonus of seeing Hawfinches here too if you are lucky and not too far away are the fabulous Wild Daffs around Brigsteer.
