Smile Re: Mountain Survival on the Mountains

Nice Photos Bill,
I'm sure the Ninetendo pup was better than getting a wet bum,and well worth the expense,
On survival skills, my wife and I were up on Kinder Scout , we had just come up Ashops Head onto the Plateau and we were in cloud, Ha! Whiteout ,
we could see our feet and about 6 different tracks leading off. but nothing in front, well, when I go to places like that I sit down in the house and plan the route out,
I lift bearings off the map of the area and jot them down on the guide
so, from Ashops Head to the Obelisk (The OS trig point) was xxx degrees
Set the compas up and walked in that diection, What a releif to see the trig point materialising out of the cloud , when we got down off the top after following different sets of bearings, we phoned the landlord of the B&B he was well releived, he watched it getting worse from his front door and was quite concerned for us, survival skills are necessary in order to stay safe.
Stay safe , Big Bill.

All the Best

Duncan.
