It's approx similar shape & size to a mallard; has black body & beak (no grey), a white 'bib' on breast - like Blue Swedish markings.. thought that was what it was at first, but this has a dark green head too...... (not sure if it's a difference between gender or just age but the size of the white part on its breast varied between certain birds)... Oh and they wer in a group of about 8-10 individuals.

Sounds like mallards crossed with Aylesburys but hard to tell without a pic - that would be my guess anyway!
