We own a house in the Loire valley and spend time there often.. The farm next door has a large lake that I fish on. There are boar tracks around the lake fresh every day and the forests have good populations but they are the most elusive and timid animals imaginable..I have actually seen some once in 5 years the local farmers say any sighting is rare,....
I think the boar in the article could be first generation escapees because normally they are very timid.
