Hallo Everyone,
Thank you for pointing out that my photograph is a Wood Mouse and not a House Mouse.
I was told it was a House Mouse some years ago and didn't think to check whether the information was incorrect or not. I have now looked at examples of Wood and House Mouse on the web, and in my recently aquired Mammal Guide, and agree with you all that it is a Wood Mouse. I will correct my own records but can anyone tell how I can correct it on the
Gallery. I tried but got nowhere fast!
Tigger,
The only time I have seen the Wood Mouse is during the day. It comes out whenever the weather is fine and sits in the bird feeder for anywhere between 10 and 30 minutes feeding or just looking about. I assume it also comes out at night but I have never noticed it. I saw it once feeding alongside a Grey Squirrel which was quite amazing to see. Unfortunately I did not have my camera with me at the time.
Harold.
