Hi - although I agree that the tags were quite obvious I believe that most mammals have very limited colour vision and so the tags would not have been as obvious to mammalian prey as they were to us.

However, the collar was a bit of a dinosaur and the leg snare was not ideal - neither were a good advert for scientific study.
