This subject was also raised a couple of times on the old Yahoo BeastwatchUK group (now Beastwatch_files). I have seen a few white squirrels around these parts (Kent/Sussex coast borders) and it was wondered whether they were leucistic or albino. Difficult to say for sure at a distance, but I am 90% they were leucistic.
