There's quite a bit round there - do you drive? - will try and think of a few places for you

There's High Rocks (avoid weekends and hols) interesting things in there but make sure you go when it's quiet or you wont see anything!

If you can get down as far as Hassocks way there are some lovely walks across the South Downs.

The whole of Ashdown Forest is great - get a map from the visitors center. Weir Wood Reservoir is good for bird watching there's a hide there too.

There's also Loder Valley Reserve (near / part of Wakehurst Place) - it's a botanical reserve and SSSI - haven't been for years but really interesting.

Ardingly reservoir is nearish you too but a this time of year Ardingly (bit further down from you ) is very interesting.

there that's all the ones South of you anyway - lots to the north too!
