Forget about the pixels,look at the convenience no waiting for processing!
"Did I get that shot,is it sharp" just look delete if necessary(use caution )
I have a 3 megapixel camers the results are very good, just bought a D70s the results are even better (squared!) Canon have more megapixels than you can shake a stick at,you could probably make duvet(king sized)prints from it!
