Just stumbled on this site and it looks great.I'm lucky enough to live on the edge of a Sussex town where we back onto a wooded area and consequently we get visited regularly by
Badgers,foxes,grey squirrels,over 30 bird species,
Adders,
Common Lizards,frogs,toads and
Slow Worms.Grey squirrels are my favourite mammals,we feed several of these wonderful animals by hand and are able to identify most of them by sight and individual characteristics. From a quick browse of this site I find it disturbing to read about proposed culls and i'm hoping to get my wife to post on here because she has been researching the old greys versus reds debate as part of a degree course.
Apparently there is some contention as to whether the
Red Squirrel is as indigenous as we are led to believe. There is no archaeological evidence to prove that the
Red Squirrel was here prior to the land bridge and in actual fact the origin of all squirrel species (including reds) can be traced back to America.
I love all wildlife and am looking forward to chatting with you all.
