You probably already know this, but for those who don’t.

The moon obviously effects the water on the earth, such as the tides, our brains are mostly made up of water, so its not hard to see why madness is associated with full moons. the word ‘Lunatic’ comes from the word ‘Luna’ meaning moon. Its why the police and ambulance drivers often say people are more violent on the full moon and that they are busier because the full moon effects the waters in our brain causing people to do more erratic things. Its why werewolves are also associated with the full moon also, because many mad men and killers in the past would be more likely to strike on a full moon, giving the belief that men turned into wild animals on such nights.

The 12 monthly cycles of the moon each year are also connected to the 12 monthly womanly menstrual cycles of the year. Many Pagan fertility goddesses are symbolic of the moon, which is why they are called moon mothers, or moon goddesses, so its believed that more women get pregnant on a full moon than at any other time of the month.
