If it is National trust, they normaly supply buckets of disinfectant to walk through.

On this is a link for all the publications. These publications suggest that their are risks of FMD being spread by all farm animals, vehicles, man (including in our throats

), This can obviously be continued further by suggesting all insects, birds, mammals etc.The list goes on.
After the last outbreak, Defra and the goverment had apparently made an investigation. The conclusion of this was that ithe most possible means of transportation of FMD at the time was the endless amounts of rain, floods etc. At the moment it seems
Badgers and foxs are in the clear for the moment. Sure they will find some thing else soon though

Apart from not walking through the control zone, there is little more you can do other than stay out of the countryside. Where this is dissinfectant supplied, use it. use footpaths and do not walk through grazing land, keep dogs on leads. Always the same.
Just thought a possible idea would be to put plastic bags over your boots, and change them for every field.
