Despite being a member for quite a while now I haven't actually posted anything - just read some of the many interesting threads on offer - so I thought it was probably about time to introduce myself here. My name's Simon, and I've recently graduated from Reading Uni with a degree in zoology, which I enjoyed so much I decided I'd stay on and do an MSc in Wildlife management and conservation, which I hope will lead to a career in something interesting, rather than in retail or in an office.
My home is in Essex (although I was born in Kent and lived on Salisbury Plain for a while as a kid), not far from Southend, where I can enjoy jaunts through fields, marshes or woodlands. From the holidays I've had (which have been pretty much exclusively in the UK) I've seen some amazing places, with really different habitats for wildlife - North Norfolk coast, North York Moors, Caledonian forests near Loch Ness, Isle of Cumbrae (Scotland, technically a field trip), Cornwall, Peak District, Mid-Wales amongst others - which I suppose sparked my interest in studying wildlife. I don't profess to know a lot about anything (although my final year project was on ground beetles in woodlands...), but then again I am still young.
I look forward to engaging more actively with you all!
Regards,
Simon
