A pet is a pet, not matter what type of creature it is. When you bond with an animal, you learn to appreciate it's qualities and characteristics. It's a bird, most people have little regard for. I suppose if it had been a parrot, no-one would have questioned it?
I'm not sure what I would do, if it was my chicken.
