Henrya, have you tried, or thought about Eldernell on the Nene Washes. It is usually full of thousands of wildfowl plus some waders through the winter. Easily reached from Peterborough on the A605 just east of Coates. By the way there is often the chance to see Short-eared Owls, Barn Owls, Marsh and Hen Harriers.
